My paintings are recreations of scenes captured in my photographic snapshots. I carry a camera with me everywhere, hoping to stumble upon moments of aesthetic serendipity to collect, and to possibly paint. I look for resonance of color, composition, and contrast in the world around me, and attempt to document it. I am not picky about beauty, though I have my own internal "eye" for it; and I find it existing in the natural world, the world constructed by humans, and often in the intersection of the two. Through the process of painting, I can reexamine my photos of what I believe to be "found" beauty and give the images a texture and presence that prints of the photographs cannot match.
