Building on metroblossom's theme, the below photographs emphasize different elements of the interaction between the human and nonhuman worlds.

From the juxtaposition of a winter tree with Chicago's electric sky to the indigenous plant reclamation of a former Bolivian pasture, I hope to convey the tension and beauty of each relationship.
 

 

 
 

 

Bio

David Schalliol is founder of metroblossom and a graduate student in sociology at the University of Chicago. His broad interests are united by concerns for social justice and greater understanding of the human and nonhuman condition. As a photographer, he is currently working on a number of projects, including urban landscape studies and documentary work for Chicago's Hyde Park Historical Society. He regularly updates his flickr account.
